Round 14
Another exciting round of games for our Juniors, and other sunny game day. Hopefully it hangs around for the week so the pitches can dry out after the last few rainy weeks.
Round 14 was also our Quiz Night, with teams battling it out to take out the win. This year we held in it the Clubrooms. Anita in the Canteen was cranking out the goods supported by Grace, Sophie and William. Thank you all for making the magic happen and keeping the food and drinks flowing.
It was a great night with the “Belgian Rejects” taking home the top prize. A full squad of Falcons were ready for the Dunsborough raptors challenge today. In an extremely close game the players tried hard all over the pitch. A great, challenging game by all with players of the day Ashton, Zephyr and Finn. Thanks to Golf Gardens, Two Cracks Coffee and Witchy Pies for their support.
U8 Messi Kids
For the final game of winter, we were treated to perfect playing conditions — a dry deck and blue skies set the scene for a fantastic match. Both teams displayed exceptional skills in what turned out to be a tight and competitive game. Possibly the most physically contested game of the year….
With a final score of 6–5, the FMR Messi Kids emerged as the winners.
A big thank you to Golf Gardens for sponsoring the Player of the Day. Congratulations to Ezra, who took out the award for his relentless pressure up forward. Here’s hoping for more dry Saturday mornings this spring as these talented young footballers continue to showcase their impressive skills. It’s truly a pleasure to watch them in action!
U8 Magic
A sunny home ground set the stage for a high-energy clash between Margaret River Magic and the Dunsborough Warriors. From the opening whistle, it was an evenly matched contest, with both sides creating chances and keeping the crowd on edge.
Magic’s passing game was sharp this week, with quick ball movement down the wings and clever kicks into space giving plenty of opportunities up front. Remi opened the match in goals with some steady hands, while captain Mitchell led from the front with his trademark pace and fearless runs through the midfield.
Charlie was rock-solid in defence during the first half, clearing danger from the back line, while Mason linked play beautifully with crisp passing before stepping up as an unstoppable force between the posts in the second half. Lucas added constant attacking pressure, pushing the Warriors’ defence onto the back foot creating multiple opportunities for his teammates.
The second half opened with fireworks—Charlie broke the deadlock with a spectacular strike from a near-impossible angle on the back line. Minutes later, Remi powered one in from wide on the sideline. Oleg was instrumental throughout, threading dangerous left-foot passes into the goal square to set up teammates, and then sealing the game with two clinical finishes of his own.
Playing up front, Savvie came super close to scoring and stood her ground with determination, staying strong under pressure and making her presence felt near goal. Mo kept the pressure on with relentless running and clever passing, creating multiple chances and striking opportunities for his teammates.
Elbi was outstanding in attack and defence, spoiling opponents’ attacks and always backing up the keeper; and Mitchell kept up his lightning-fast play, manoeuvring the ball through defenders and turning defence into attack.
The Warriors created plenty of exciting chances, striking the post a few times and testing the Magic defence throughout. Their goalkeepers pulled off some excellent saves to keep the contest tight, while both teams showed great determination right to the final whistle.
Player of the Day: Remi – for excellent effort and putting the Coach’s training into action during the game.
U9 Raptors
The Raptors had an awesome game against the Falcons on a gorgeous sunny day. Down a player all the boys worked hard in attack and defence displaying their improved skills and passing. Nate cracked a goal from way out and Jay and Arlo covered a lot of ground. Congrats boys on POD thanks to Yahava and Temper Temper.
U9 Mavericks
The sun was shining at Churchill Park on Saturday and it was a beautiful day for the match between FMR Mavs and the MUSC Sharks. The Sharks were in great form and were victorious at the final whistle. The teamwork on the ground was impressive and both teams were a credit to their respective coaches. Lou Gibson was POD for the Mavs and was very chuffed with his Two Cracks voucher.
U10 Strikers
The under 10 Strikers had a tough game with The Wasps but there was some top goal keeping from Arlo G and Jake that prevented a few goals from going through and some determined play by Josh that scored a goal for the Strikers, earning him player of the day.
U10 Dragons
The Dragons were away for the final time this season, at Churchill Park to play the GMAS Tornadoes. True to form for the Dragons, it was an exciting and fast paced match with a great team performance. It started out as a fairly even contest until the Dragons settled into the game and their positions. The Tornadoes’ keeper made some excellent saves from a relentless attack by the Dragons. It seems as though the sun coming out put some pep in the players step, it was a lively and energetic match. Our players of the day this week were Tim and Leighton, who will be enjoying some treats thanks to our sponsors FMR canteen and Golf Gardens.
U11 Roos
Great weather in Margret River as the Roos hosted GMAS. A big shout out to Ivy who volunteered to play with GMAS to make a full team so all the kids could enjoy the game. A fantastic first half with the Roos warming up. As the second half began the Roos start talking to each other and attacking. There was some great football work by some of the players. The parents were on the edge of their seats. A great game. POD Ivy and Luke enjoying a voucher for Witchy Pies and a canteen voucher. Well Done.

U14 Warriors
The game the Warriors played against The Mariners did not go the way they had hoped but they played well, pushed hard and can be proud of their efforts. Player of the day went to Saf who just never gave up.
U15 Tigers
The Tigers kicked off the match with plenty of energy, showing strong defensive organisation and moving the ball forward with confidence. They created some promising attacking opportunities early on, including a few shots on target, but were unable to sink the ball into the back of the net. Against the run of play, the Development Squad found their rhythm and capitalised with clinical finishing, heading into half time with a 4–0 lead.
The Tigers came out fighting in the second half, immediately winning a corner and pressing high. A long-range strike followed but was just out of reach. The Development Squad responded quickly, extending their lead to 5–0 ten minutes after the restart and soon adding another to make it 6–0.
Despite the deficit, the Tigers’ determination never wavered. They pushed forward with multiple attacking moves and kept possession well. At the back, the defence stood tall, with several goal-line clearances and the goalkeeper producing a string of outstanding saves to keep the scoreline in check. In the closing stages, one more slipped through, sealing a 7–0 result in favour of the Development Squad.
Although the score didn’t reflect the Tigers’ effort, the team showed great spirit, resilience, and plenty of positives to build on heading into their next match. Players of the Day went to Charlie Twist who scored an FMR Canteen Voucher and Lucas Hurley who will be heading to Witchy Pies!
U15 Sharks
It was blue skies and sunshine at Barnard Park as the Sharks faced off against the Lions. Looking for their first victory against Lions this season, the Sharks came out hungry and fierce. Benji converted a penalty in the first five minutes of the match to get things going. Busselton quickly retaliated with a goal of their own, to level things up and set the tone for a close match.
The Sharks continued to pressure in attack as the Lions scrambled. The two Zs - Zane and Ziggy, zigzagged and showed excellent ball control, working well to create opportunities and space in attack. The Lions frazzled in defence, gave away another penalty with a handball in the area. Benji didn’t hesitate to convert taking the Sharks to half time with a lead of 2 goals to 1.
The Lions came back strong in the second half levelling the score at 2 all, despite the possession and opportunities feeling slightly more Shark-ey. The Shark's defence was solid throughout the match, with standout performances from Felix, Vincent and Laura. Benji, with unrivalled and relentless determination scored a 3rd goal as the Sharks hung on for dear life, hoping they had done enough. The final whistle left the Sharks victorious, taking the win 3 goals to 2.
Players of the match went to Benji, Mateja and Kelani, all who played with outstanding effort and commitment. Thank you to Two Cracks Coffee for the POD Vouchers.
