Round 11

Mother Nature sorta played nice for Round 11.  Bit of rain on the day, but the week was clear so helped them dry out a bit.  All games went ahead which was a relief after the scramble of last week!!!

U7 Falcons

The Falcons have been training hard under coach Gordon's skilled guidance and its been great to watch the improvement. Today we were challenged by MUSC Minions in an exciting game with plenty of forward pressure. Player of the day shout outs to Billy, Archie and Marco.

U8 Messi Kids

The weather held off this morning for the Messi Kids to have a sunny game against the MUSC Socceroonies. Messi Kids started off strong opening the scoring early, and continued to maintain strong pressure on the Socceroonies defence. Strong passes, and excellent communication helped the Messi kids maintain control of the game. Their defence and goaltending were exceptional all game as they finished with a shutout. It was a well played, and consistent effort by the whole team this week! Well done Messi Kids!

U8 Magic

After last week’s washout at Capel, our Magician’s were raring to go for their home clash against the McKillop United Tigers. The rain held off and with a full team on deck, the stage was set for a great game.  Zephyr took the gloves in the first half, showing solid goalkeeping before hitting the field in the second half, always fast and on the move. Mitchell stepped into goals in the second half with some solid saves and played strongly through the centre when on the field. Oleg wore the captain’s armband, fresh off a flight back into the country the night before – a true dedication to the team!

Charlie powered the ball clear from the Tigers’ forward half and delivered a smart assist to set up a goal. Mason’s footwork looked straight out of the Premier League, with smart passing and great ball placement to turn play back in the Magic’s favour. Remi was outstanding, tirelessly running back to support the goalie whenever needed. Elbi was a powerhouse through the middle and in defence as always, and Sav battled tirelessly up front, coming impressively close to scoring on multiple occasions.  Mo was sharp and clinical, finding the back of the net with skill and composure. Oleg fired a powerful left-footed shot past the keeper for Magics second and Lucas showed great determination and timing to slot another spectacular Magic goal late in the first. The Tigers lifted their intensity in the second half and kept the Magic working hard right to the final whistle. Another great match full of teamwork, effort, and determination – well done, Magic! Well deserved player of the Day this week went to Zephyr – solid in goals, dynamic in attack and always on the move.

U9 Raptors

Raptors had a competitive but good spirited game against the Capel Cubs. Nissi showed some fancy footwork early on and Nate had some cracking strikes in the first half. Cohen and Hemi ran hard all game and set up some fantastic goals. Arlo and Jay played hard in defence then both showed their skills up front with accurate crosses and strikes on goal. Congrats boys on POD with thanks to LJ Soccer and Temper Temper.

U9 Mavericks

There was a lucky break in the weather for the  under 9s on Saturday. The sun was out for most of game between the FMR Mavs and the CSC Jets. It was a close game and it kept the spectators on the edge of their seats to the final whistle.  Lou Gibson was POD for the Mavs and was very chuffed with his well earned voucher.

U10 Strikers

The U10 Strikers braved wet and wild weather as they took on the Capel Cubs at Gloucester Park this weekend. Despite hoping the rain would hold off, the skies opened up—but the downpour didn’t dampen the team’s spirit.  The Strikers got off to a flying start in the first half, with quick early goals from Mateo and Chase, both set up through fantastic teamwork and slick passing from Arlo and Josh. Osiris stood strong in goals, making some brilliant saves to keep the Capel Cubs at bay.

In the second half, the defensive trio of Lorenzo, Josh, and Sam, with Jake now in goals, worked seamlessly to shut down every Capel advance. Miles had a standout game, covering every inch of the pitch with skilful passing and determined runs—earning himself the well-deserved Player of the Day.  Up front, Osiris, Archer, Arlo, and Mateo continued to apply pressure, with Archer scoring a superb goal, and both Mateo and Arlo bagging a hat trick each to seal a memorable win.  A fantastic all-round performance from the whole team!

U10 Serpents

The Serpents delivered an impressive performance against the Capel Pups in what proved to be a thrilling and closely contested match. The team demonstrated exceptional cohesion and determination, with every player contributing to a well-coordinated effort on the pitch. Defensive stars Zephyr and Ray were standout performers, earning joint Player of the Day. Special thanks to coaches Benji and Jason for their excellent guidance throughout the game.

U11 Roos

The first half had lovely sunshine. The Roos played well putting on heaps of pressure against the DTFC Strikers. Plenty of passing to each other and not giving the Strikers any space. The second half played in rain, the Roos defence was in fine form, and when the attackers got the ball, they knew what to do. There was plenty of communication. POD was Ivy 2 fantastic goals and always chasing the ball and putting on the pressure, well done and thanks for the half time oranges!

U11 Storm

Well done this week Storm against a strong team, the Dunsborough Stingrays. We had a tough first half but they worked together beautifully as team in the second half. Storm put pressure on their marks and called out to each other during play. Some great work in goals by Kynan and some great goals by Lachlan. Our POD is Billy for some fabulous footwork; thanks to Two Cracks Coffee.

U12 Breakers

The Breakers played the Stars in an evenly matched Derby. The Breakers led the first half only to have the Stars even the score by the end of the match. Player of the day went to Drayke for an outstanding display in goals along with Zoe who played a determined game in defence and attack. Thanks to Two Cracks Coffee for prizes.

U12 Jettz

The U12 Jettz had a great home game against Dunsborough Fury. It was a thing of great beauty! The Jettz start losing 1 zero, but after that, it was all happy days. The goalies Cohen and Wyatt did a great job they were like a wall, same with the defenders Tyla, Flow and Reef - no one can go through them. And on attack there was great team work between Zoe and Mason.  They scored a goal each after back to back passes to each other. Towards the end Mason finished it off with an amazing free kick goal, and the final score of 3 to 1. Player of the game went to Ronan for his good passing skills and super speed. Congratulations Jettz!!!

U13 Wyverns

The match kicked off with the Wyverns in full attacking mode. Within the first few minutes Arturo scored a textbook goal in the top corner followed by one by Nigel and another by Arturo which put the Wyverns in front by 3 goals. The Wyverns were only getting started and open the throttle even more and Michael scored 6 goals and Nigel another 4. Poor Bennie was a bit bored in goals as it was a fairly one-sided match and Coach Gary decided to put him on striker for the second half. Bennie proved himself just as good on field as in the goals with some amazing attacks and tackles. The Wyverns turned the attack mode down in the second half and played some beautiful passing football and showed some great sportsmanship. Congrats to Ryal getting player of the match with some of his best runs, passes and tackles yet.

U14 Rockets

The threat of rain held off until the final whistle as our Under 14 Rockets faced DTFC Mariners in a spirited clash. The Rockets came out strong, showing grit and determination, and responded to the Mariners’ opening goal with a well-earned equaliser that had parents cheering under umbrellas. In the second half, our energy dipped and the Mariners found their rhythm, netting several goals. Still, the Rockets never gave up, playing with heart and resilience to the very end.  Cody earned Player of the Day, and Coach Jay gave well-deserved shoutouts to several players for their teamwork and tenacity. Despite the 6–2 scoreline, the match was full of hustle, heart, and muddy socks. Onwards and upwards, Rockets!

U14 Warriors

Warriors played the top of table today and their defence was structurally good, especially in the second half. It was an exciting match and made better by a very fortunate break in the rainy weather.  Warriors defended hard and had some great shots but were just short of scoring. They will get a chance to play Cornerstone Blackhawk's again next weekend.  Player of the day goes to Marcus for playing really well in a new position.  Thank you to Archie Berry for stepping in as coach.

YL Blaze

What a nail-biter.  Blaze took on second on the ladder BCFC Redbacks at home on the weekend.  From the first whistle, IT. WAS. ON.  It was a fast, tough and rough game. Redbacks got an early chance off a free kick, but Henry was on it and made a save.  Not long after, he levitated with a massive horizontal sideways jump to save another.  Henry was calm and decisive saving everything coming his way. Asha got in some good tackles taking it to them. Scarlet had a chance at goal, but keeper saved it.  On our next run forward, Sonny gave Sid a great opportunity and it looked like a sure thing, but the keeper saved it. Not long after, Kade and Sid had another go. Another save,  but gave us a corner.  Unfortunately we weren’t able to convert.  The Redbacks were making runs forward as well, but neither side able to get that first goal.  The ball was moving up and down the pitch with pace.  Both teams playing a fierce game.  A great play by Lisa, to Sonny up to Sid to gave us the first goal of the game with his shot on target.  Sid, Charlotte and Lisa had another attempt, but it was saved and the whistle blew to close the first half.

The Second half was just as intense. Redbacks got a free kick in front of goals. It went wide, but they got the rebound which Henry saved.  Back in our forward half, Sonny got a shot off, but just missed.  Redbacks got another free kick that went over.  Charlie was good down line, and Digby wasn’t making it easy for them.  A great play up to Kai, to Kade gave him a shot, but again just wide.  Kade and Sid had a go off the kick out, but couldn’t convert. Poom was playing HARD in defence, bodying with the best of them.  The pace did not slow with our forwards having another run that ended with a corner.  Sid took the kick, Scarlett had a great header, but didn’t go in. Soon after another free kick from in front was saved by the Redbacks keeper.Kade had another shot that was also saved.  The Redbacks made another play forward.  Henry likes to give us the odd scare with the turf catching his boot, making him fumble the ball, but a quick recovery and it was in his safe hands again.  Sid and Sonny were chasing down the ball tackling hard.  Back in our forward half, Caspian had a shot that just missed. Another play by Kai, to Sid, to Lisa gave William a shot but again, just wide. Everyone was on tenterhooks as another free kick in front was awarded to the Redbacks, but it went over the top giving us the win.

The parents were thrilled with the win.  Coach Matt said it was an outstanding effort.  We lifted in the second half, created chances and put them under pressure.  Sonny had a great game. Poom had a great game. Winning headers, putting the defensively under pressure. Cas and Will both had chances going forward. POD went to Charlie who worked hard and is continuing to improve each week. It was a tough game, but shows how far we’ve come. Next week is the FIFA Cup Semi Finals, with a derby against the Wanderers.  Let’s go Blaze!
