Round 16
Some very exciting games at Gloucester Park today for the final round of the season! 11 games all up at GP and another 8 at Rapids! With lots of Derby’s taking place, it was great for most teams to finish the season playing at home. The sun was shining and it was a great atmosphere on the pitch!
U7 Shadows
The Shadows had their final game of the season at home, against the Mackillop Panthers. The teams were very evenly matched and both worked hard to score some early goals. Kaden and Meeka were great on defence and Kai, Ted, Jimmy, Harry and Elkie kept up the pressure in the mid-field and on strike. Once again, the team effort and camaraderie was outstanding. It’s been a pleasure watching the Shadows celebrate each others achievements and show constant encouragement for each other throughout the season. Meeka and Elkie won the final Player of the Match awards for their defence and tenacity.
U8 Falcons
Wow what a season! The Falcons improved in all aspects of teamwork and sportsmanship plus their skills in passing, kicking and defending have increased enormously. Players of the Day were Eleanor and Billy! Well done on a great season team!
U9 Magic
Magic put in one of their strongest performances of the year in a cracking local derby against the Messi Kids. With the full squad on deck, Magic were switched on from the first whistle with sharp passing and relentless pressure.
The first half was neck and neck, with both sides creating chances and the Messi Kids firing some powerful strikes. Mason was outstanding in goal, pulling off save after save. Zephyr produced a moment of class with a stunning long-range strike to put his team on the scoreboard.
Magic lifted the tempo after the break, with Mo picking up the ball in midfield, charging towards goal and finishing with a powerful strike into the back of the net. Moments later, Mason was everywhere in the second half weaving the ball down the field. He delivered a brilliant cross to Charlie, who showed great composure to read the play and fire another home for Magic.
Elbi (The Wall) and Sav worked tirelessly in defense to win the ball back for their team. Oleg kept the Messi Kids at bay with his lightning fast reflexes producing some gutsy saves under pressure.
Austin was all over the pitch, showing great determination to finish his first season strongly, while Remi worked tirelessly in attack and defence.
Mitch was relentless, chasing down opponents and winning the ball back, and was rewarded with a well-earned goal - capping off a fantastic day for Magic.
A massive thank you and farewell to Coach James. His patience, expert knowledge and encouragement have been instrumental in the team’s development over the last two seasons.
U9 Messi Kids
Despite playing the entire match with no substitutes on the bench, the FMR Messi Kids showed incredible grit and determination. They pushed through the exhaustion to create numerous scoring opportunities throughout the game. However, luck wasn't on their side, and they just couldn't convert those chances into goals today.
The FMR Magic capitalised on the day, putting together a fantastic performance to secure the win in what was a truly entertaining and high-intensity derby. Both teams walked off the pitch after a spectacular display of youth soccer.
The last game of the season was intense and action packed from start to finish. A phenomenal performance to end the season on.
U9 Raptors
What a season, what a team, what a community! Amazing families, and an amazing coach. Just saying! Phenomenal! Couldn’t have asked for better. The skills, and not just football, but life these boys got this season was just beyond!! Now to the last game of the season for the Raptors, and what a game it was!
The game started off strong. I wasn’t even aware it started and bam, there were cheers, there were screams and Eddie had already scored our first goal! This set the tone for the half, the teamwork and passing was amazing, and the size of some of these kicks, there was a kick from Ollie that cleared the field.
The intensity kept with a few close goals early on, from multiple players. Ezra did awesome defending of a super strong kick. The pressure and defence was intense from everyone. Ollie ket getting in there, Aston applied great pressure, Ezra was fantastic at getting in and stealing the ball back. Eddie even still going on the floor just to get the ball out, or just going again and again with multiple foiled attempts at goal. Ezra got the second goal of the game with Caolan doing an amazing job at protecting the goal and helping to ensure Vasse didn’t get a look in. The third goal of the game came from Bo, fracture and all. Vasse tried hard to follow it up but William put his body on the line with an epic save. Lochie took an absolute pearler of a kick that again, went the length of the field. These boys have got some strong kicks now! Leo and Isaac got in there to the tightest of packs to get the ball out, passing it so smoothly out to the team, like it was a piece of cake!
The teamwork this game was phenomenal, it wasn’t just one bunch of 3, the team moulded to what it needed, with small groups working together, so smoothly down the field. If another person was there, they jumped in and continued down, working together so well.
The tricky footwork by other team couldn't cope with our defensive pressure. Always having someone get in there. Suddenly we were in, slamming shots at goal. Leo coming in with two shots in quick succession with Eddie securing goal number 4. The team work and passing was so clean, it was so good to see, and everyone getting in there. Aston pulled off a fantastic right kick for a leftie soon followed by Lochie taking on the header and another amazing save by Will. The pace continued with a massive throw in by Ollie, which made everyone decide from then on that they had to go really far back for the really big throw ins! Eddie did great getting in the pack to get the ball back with Isaac always being reliable creating an opening and Caolan making sure he helped hold Vasse back. Eddie had some good clearances followed by goal 5. Pressure being securely put in place by Lochie. Before a moment to breathe at half time and some Coach Dan inspiration at half time.
Second half started in a whirlwind, Ezra not only coming out strong but securing the first goal, Eddie sliding across the grass (because those moments are important) and a fantastic steal by Bo. Caolan and Will worked so good as a team in defence it was like a tidal wave, they made sure nothing passed and passed on to others who swooshed through and got the ball back down our half. Although the other team were hungry now and Vasse wanted that ball back! Bo got into the defence energy, followed by Isaac pulling off an amazing kick and then a second one that flew so high it was amazing straight onto Aston’s head, whose eyes sparkled having secured another epic header. Caolans pressure did not falter, but even though our pressure was epic, Vasse thought it was about time they scored. Driving Leo to overdrive getting the ball back, and Lochie saving two goals back to back. Phew!
Leo, Eddie and Ezra worked amazingly together down the field but Vasse tried to bring it back, with Lochie using his face to save the next goal. Bo took an amazing shot trying to get momentum back into our favour, and hit the post. I swear that should be worth a bonus in itself. Precision aim! This led Leo to really increase the pressure by our goals to get it in and Bo scoring yet another goal. We have minutes left, and Vasse followed it up by getting their second goal and our Raptors coming back firing with one final attempt. And Game. Just like that, we’re done. The whole season over. One last inspirational talk from Coach Dan. Another life skill, respect, respect for everyone, even your opponent, your team, parents, coach, and how respect will take you further. People can get skill, but respect on top of that skill makes you shine. The attitude on top of skill and talent is the winner - the heart, the attitude. The inspirational life lessons from Dan. Players of the day went to Eddie and Will.
But seriously as much as there are players of the day, today was about the team. Every single one of you went in, went hard, and worked together. Well done Raptors
U10 Mavericks
It was a hard-fought game on Saturday between FMR Mavericks and FMR Raptors with the Raptors earning the win. Players of the day for the Mavs were Flynn Hardy and Sammy Durlik and they are looking forward to spending their Candy Cow vouchers. Coach Jared Hardy should be very proud, it was a fantastic year for the Mavs.
U11 Dragons
The Dragons wrapped up their season today with a third and final FMR derby against the Hornets. We always have fun playing the Hornets, it was a competitive contest and a fun way to close out the season.
After a challenging game last week, the Dragons came back with a strong all round team performance and showed how far they’ve come this season. They played excellent technical football, moving the ball confidently, combining with short passes and intelligent decision making. When possession was lost, they reacted quickly to regain it.
It was wonderful to see such a happy group of kids at the final whistle. The Dragons should be incredibly proud of their development individually and as a team this year.
A special shout out to our coach Jimmy, this was his fifth season with the Dragons. We are incredibly grateful for the time, energy and encouragement he has given the team, helping our kids to learn, develop and enjoy their football. A huge thank you from all the Dragons families!
Our final player of the day today was Fred, he was strong in the back line and is a consistently hard working member of our team, who always shows up with a smile and enthusiasm.
U11 Serpents
The Serpents faced off against the Capel Pups this week on home turf, and for their final game of the season, the team truly brought their all. It was a closely matched contest, full of determination on the field and cheering from the sidelines. Every player gave it their best right to the last whistle.
We're so proud of you, Serpents — and you should be too! What an epic season it's been.
U12 Storm
Well, what a way to wrap up the season! In our final match Storm put their heart and soul into every single minute against Vasse Venom. It was an absolute joy to watch. You could see a whole season of hard work at training being poured onto the pitch — all those drills, all that listening to the Coach, coming together in one last big effort from every player.
The kids gave everything, working for each other, chasing down every ball and backing each other up just like they've learned to do all year. A perfect showcase of just how far this team has come. Whatever the scoreboard said, this is a wonderful group of players who put it all out there, and that's exactly what this season has been about. So proud of every one of you. What a team, what a season, go Storm!
We finished with two PODs. Firstly, to our outstanding goalie, Lachan for saving so many goals and next Ethan for always doing what’s asked, consistently doing all the essential simple actions that supports the team’s efforts. U13 All Stars
The U13 All Stars v GMAS game was a battle for the Wooden Spoon, so they played it like it was a grand final! Score at the final whistle 6-2 to All Stars. Well done team!
U13 Legends
What a way to finish off the season, Legends U13 played a derby against FMR Breakers. Congratulations to the Breakers who really played a great game and made us work extremely hard, they should be very proud of their game. For the Legends, the match was pending our whole seasons work to take the league. Emotions were high and the two teams showed respect to each other throughout the entire game. To take the league is a testimony to coach Jeremy’s volunteering time and the dedication of the team to their own personal growth as players. Well done Legends!
U14 Stingrays
The Stingrays faced Busselton in the final game of the season. Despite a few early chances, the Stingrays found themselves down 2 goals after about 10 minutes. After missing a few easy chances, including a penalty, it was a relief to see a goal by Louis Bebbington hit the back of the net. In the second half the pressure finally paid off, and the Stingrays bagged another 3 goals with a well taken hat-trick from high-scoring Oscar Atkins, to make it 5 to 1. Congratulations to the ever-energetic Lewis Hitchcock and thank you to the sponsor the Pie Shop - yummy.
U15 Rockets
It was the last game of the season, but you wouldn't know it. The Rockets played like they had everything to prove and they did.
Dom, Oli, Alby and Monty built a defensive wall that Vasse simply couldn't crack. And when they came close? Move aside Gianluigi Buffon. Charlie Grey has arrived. From jaw-dropping blocks to a heart-stopping penalty save, he was immovable.
In the midfield, Griff, Tommie, Bobby, Archie, Darcy and Milo worked every inch of the pitch. Darcy's thunderous strike left a mark on the post that may never fade.
But it was Tommie’s perfectly weighted pass that found Archie, who buried it with lightning speed. 1-0.
Vasse has always been a team to respect. But the Rockets were not about to bow down.
When the final whistle blew, it marked more than a win. It was the last game of the U15 era for a group of young men who have played together, competed together, and grown together. Next year brings the Youth League and new beginnings.
Whatever comes next, the Rockets have been a team built on friendship, camaraderie and sportsmanship. And best of all, always fun to watch. Players of the Match: Charlie Grey and Archie. Well deserved to you both.
U15 Warriors
The U15 Warriors took on the DTFC Mariners and took out their match 3-2. Well done Warriors!
U17 Mustangs
The U17’s played their final game for the season on Lower Western and took home the win 6-0 over the BCFC Thunder.
Ollie opening the scoring with a great strike. Keeper let it go thinking it was out but hit the post and deflected in.
It was yet another great display of teamwork with the boys calling, passing and moving the ball around the pitch. A penalty was given to us and taken by the ever calm and composed Reef for our second. Sid was cutting through the Busso team like a hot knife through butter.
The second half was much the same. Busso giving it their all but not able to get through our defence, and when they did, going wide or over. Stirling and Kai worked together to draw the keeper out given Kai our 3rd. Sid had another run forward with a strike giving us our 4th.
On a corner in our attack, Jarrah ran up the pitch from goals to join in. Got the header, but the keeper punched it over. With the ball heading into our attack, Jarrah had to run fast to make it back! Our next goal started in our defense with a pass from Will, to Sid to Ollie who struck again to give us our 5th. A pass from Stirling to Kelani who did a banger of a strike to give us our 6th at the end of the game.
It was great to watch the team develop and work together over the season. The teamwork on display has been great with each and every player doing their bit on the pitch to get the team over the line, and we finished the season strong with a winning streak of 6 league games. Well done Mustangs!
Today also marked the last Junior game for 9 of our players as they have now aged out of Juniors with the end of the season. Congratulations to William, Ethan, Sid, Stirling, Reef, Jarrah, Digby, Poom and Jay (not pictured as was away) for their many years playing for the FMR Juniors. There is an awful lot of talent in this group and we hope we will see you back in 2027 in the Senior squads!
