Round 10
Another great Round of Football for FMR this weekend, even if it was a wee bit chilly. It’s great to see all the happy smiling faces of the kids and watch some quality football in all age group!
U7 Lightning
The U7 Lightning travelled to Capel this week and what a beautiful sunny day it was for a soccer game. Even without any subs, Lightning dominated, running at full pace the entirety of the game, Ziggy, Zephyr, Alfie and Everly all showing off their passing and stopping skills learnt at training, moving wide into space. Everly was awarded POD with thanks to Temper Temper! Well done Lightning!
U7 Shadows
The Shadows delivered yet another stellar performance this weekend, defending our home turf against a resilient GMAS squad. While the visiting GMAS side showcased some quality players and clever plays, the boys maintained their usual high standard, controlling the game from start to finish without letting up for a single moment.
It was a masterclass in teamwork, highlighted by the triumphant return of Meeka, who stepped back onto the pitch with a bang to provide an immediate spark for us. On both sides of the ball, we were anchored by the dynamic efforts of Elkie and Harry, who made crucial defensive stops while seamlessly transitioning into dangerous attacking drives. The entire roster, including standout efforts from Teddy, Kai, Jimmy and Kaden, put in an exceptional shift, showing exactly what it means to play as a cohesive unit.
I simply can't praise these boys enough for their phenomenal growth as a team; they are an absolute pleasure to coach. Their tactical development was on full display as they communicated effectively during passing sequences and constantly discussed their positioning to maintain their shape on the field. From creating open space to build our offense, to defending relentlessly with critical interceptions, the boys capped off their hard work with exceptional goals in a truly dominant showing.
U8 Falcons
It was an exciting match in Dunsborough today. The Falcons rose to the challenge early whilst Dunsborough finished strongly. Winston showed some excellent footwork to move the ball through the midfield. Player of the match today was Finn who scored a brilliant goal and challenged hard in attack.
U8 The Breakers
The FMR breakers took on the Dunsborough knights in an exciting match this Saturday. The Breakers worked hard from the first whistle, showing persistence and patience to score two goals in the second half from Fionn and Lucas. Well played to Fionn and Sophie for taking home players of the match. Fionn scored a great goal and really pressed the players up front. Sophie worked hard in midfield and her passing skills are really coming along. They will be eating brownies at Two Cracks Coffee as soon as they can!
U9 Magic
Magic hit the road for a thrilling game against the GMAS Vipers. Without subs, every Magic player gave everything they had to deliver an outstanding team performance in Busselton.
Mo was solid in goals during the first half before exploding into attack in the second, slotting home two fantastic goals to cap off a brilliant all-round performance. Austin showed great courage as he cleverly manoeuvred around defenders to create attacking opportunities and came agonisingly close with several strikes on goal.
Mitch was electric throughout the first half before taking over in goals in the second, where he pulled off multiple outstanding saves to keep the Vipers at bay. Charlie worked tirelessly all game, chasing down opponents, setting up attacking plays and finishing off with a textbook goal in the second half.
Mason put on a dribbling masterclass, effortlessly weaving past defenders as if the ball was glued to his feet and finished with a well-earned hat-trick!
This week’s Player of the Day unanimously went to team Captain Elbi who was an absolute wall in defense - continuously clearing the ball from danger and spoiling the Vipers attack. With one less player on the field Elbi worked overtime to shutdown her opponents and launch attacking plays for her team from the back line. U9 Messi Kids
The Messi kids met GMAS Wolves for an exciting match at Rapids Landing. The Wolves started fiercely and both sides mades strong offensive attacks. Malachi made many great saves as goalie, but repeated pressure from the Wolves lead to their drawing the first goal. One more goal to each and the score was locked while both sides played battled in out with many tough contests for the ball and repeated goal attempts, held at bay by both keepers. The Messi Kids balanced the ledger mid way through the final half, then broke through to final flurry. The Messi Kids practiced their rotations, stuck to their roles and displayed strong team skills. Coach Trey praised the efforts of everyone.
U9 Raptors
What an outstanding game from the team today! It was fantastic to watch all the hard work from training come together on the field. The passing was some of the best we’ve seen all season, with everyone looking to involve their teammates and play as a team. The boys created countless scoring opportunities, and although the opposition goalkeeper made some excellent saves, the team’s persistence and teamwork shone through from start to finish.
Eddie was everywhere today, working tirelessly around the field and making himself available in attack. He had an incredible first half, scoring a brilliant hat-trick to give the team a strong lead and setting the tone for the rest of the game.
Leo had another fantastic game, always looking to pass to teammates and keep the ball moving. After several close attempts throughout the match, his determination paid off with two well-deserved goals in the second half. It was great to see his persistence rewarded.
Bo had a terrific all-round game. He made some fantastic clearing kicks early on to get the ball out of crowded situations and relieve pressure on the team. He then carried that confidence into attack, scoring the first two goals of the second half before adding another later to finish with three goals for the game.
Lachie was dangerous in attack all day, creating opportunities whenever he pushed forward. He also delivered some excellent corner kicks and kick-ins that continually put the opposition under pressure. His hard work was rewarded with a goal in the second half after another strong performance.
Isaac did a fantastic job leading the team as captain today. He came close to scoring on several occasions and worked hard to encourage his teammates while leading by example throughout the game.
Aston played with great confidence, getting involved in plenty of contests and showing strong attacking intent whenever the opportunity arose. His willingness to take on the play made a real difference to the team’s pressure.
Oliver was outstanding in defence, using his speed to get to the ball first and clear it away from danger time and time again. He also made some excellent passes to teammates near goal, helping turn defence into attack and keeping the team moving forward.
Will was solid in goals, and thanks to the fantastic defensive work in front of him, he didn’t have a huge amount to do. Even so, he stayed switched on throughout the match and made several important saves whenever the opposition threatened, showing great concentration and awareness.
Overall, this was one of the team’s best performances of the season. The teamwork, passing, communication and willingness to support one another were outstanding. It was wonderful to see everything they’ve been practising at training coming together so well on game day. Every player contributed, worked hard for each other and should be incredibly proud of their efforts.
A big congratulations to Eddie, who was awarded Player of the Match by Coach Dan after an outstanding all-round performance and his first-half hat-trick. Well deserved!

U10 Mavericks
Players of the Day for FMR Mavericks were the well-deserved Chase Gardner and birthday boy Louie Bruggler! Both scored fabulous goals and helped the Mavs to chalk up another victory!
U11 Hornets
It was a clash of the titans in defence with Leo taking on the strikers of GMAS.
Dylan the rocket, Kai and Jake were lightening in a bottle made some desperate dashes down the wing and looked strong in the front. But the forwards were unlucky and sprayed a few like a sawn off shotgun and the GMAS keeper made some fantastic saves.
Matteo, Arlo and Woody were strong across the middle with some solid passing, with help of Leo and Sam the super boot stopped GMAS attackers in the back row. The constant pressure resulting in two own goals combined with some great saves from Arlo the magician.
Not even a late start from Chase the goal specialist in the box could turn it around. It had the spectators on edge until the final whistle. Leo Raimbert was the Hornets player of the day.
U11 Dragons
The Dragons were on home turf again this weekend to take on Dunsborough Storm in a hard fought contest. We were under sustained pressure for much of the match, with our defence working tirelessly, staying organised to keep the Storm at bay. While we found it challenging at times to maintain possession and control of the ball, the boys never stopped working. As the game progressed, we built momentum, created our chances and finished with some fantastic goals, while keeping a clean sheet for the entire match.
There were plenty of positives to take away, along with some valuable lessons. Moving the ball with quicker, more effective passing will help us control games for longer, but the team demonstrated consistent effort and resilience. Congratulations to Fred our Player of the Day, who was a commanding presence in midfield with his strong work rate, composure and determination throughout the match. U11 Serpents
What a nail-biter between the Margaret River Serpents and MacKillop Thunder in Busselton! With the score locked at 3-3 going into halftime, supporters were on the edge of their seats. Harry, as always, shone bright with fantastic sportsmanship on the pitch. He stepped up to volunteer as goalie in the second half and absolutely smashed it, earning him Player of the Day. Thanks to Scoops Farm for the POD voucher!
U12 Storm
What a massive effort from U12 Storm this week against BCFC Falcons!
There was plenty of running from start to finish, with great communication across the pitch and some really fantastic football played by everyone. They all worked hard for the full match, showing plenty of determination, teamwork and commitment.
With no substitutes this week, it was a huge effort from the whole team to keep going for the entire game, although, on such a chilly morning, all that running certainly helped keep them warm!
Our POD, proudly sponsored by Burger Baby Margaret River, was very well deserved by Gal Berlot for a fantastic effort on the field.
Well done Storm another great team effort!
U13 Breakers
The Titans scored the first goal in an even match. The Breakers returned fire to score another two goals and take the lead in the first half. The second half saw both teams even up the score by the end of the match. Sienna played her part in the defensive team to earn POD. Special mention to Isaac and Cohen for playing in the goalie position. Thanks to FMR soccer canteen for prizes.
U14 Stingrays
This week's game against Busselton turned into a goal-fest with a very open 7-3 victory to the Stingrays. Bobby Atkins added another 2 goals to his impressive tally to take the Stingrays into half time 3-1 up. Early pressure and a well taken goal from Busselton put the home team under pressure until a quick brace from Louis Bebbington relieved the pressure. Another good team effort, particularly man of the match Taj McCrickard.
U17 Mustangs
It was an exciting day to be pitch side, even if it was a cool 16 degrees in Busselton, with a chilly wind that made it feel even colder! The pitch was on fire though, with both teams putting on an impressive display of quality football. It was a fairly even match most of the first half. It was 38 mins in before we scored the first goal of the match, with Bobbie punching through to find the net. This was followed up quickly with a free kick from Ollie going into Busselton’s forward line and giving Bobbie his second, giving us a 2-0 lead at half time.
Busselton came out firing in the second half, scoring 7 mins in with a great goal that blitzed past everyone.
A beautiful run up the pitch by Richard to Stirling gave us another chance. Their keeper came out and Stirling got past him knock in our third.
Some great passing from the back gave Kai an run up to give Stirling his second. Kai and tiring had another go, but the keeper saved it. Ethan got the rebound and placed a beautiful strike into the net to give us another.
With a strong defence, aggressive midfield and strikers on target, the score was 5-1 in our favour at the final whistle. With the FSW FIFA Cup Quarter Finals next week, it’s good to get a couple of back-to-back wins under our belt. The team played a great game with everyone playing their part and working hard on the pitch. Well done Mustangs!
