Round 14
Another sunny week pitch side as our teams were out and about playing the game they love. Was a bit of a quiet week with several byes for our FIFA teams, but we had regular league games for the U6-12’s this week, plus two Cup Semi-Finals with the U15 Rockets and U13 Legends battling it out to go through to the finals in September!
U7 River Dogs
The day finally arrived… the much-anticipated game against our previous team mates in an FMR Derby - River Dogs vs Lightning!
The sun was shining down on Rapids Landing and the full River Dogs squad was ready to play. Unfortunately, Lightning were missing two of their superstar players and were down to only one sub, so River Dogs had the advantage. There was a lot of fast running, some huge kicks and great goals scored. It was a fun game with friendly competition and great sportsmanship. Players of the day this week were Isaac and Louie, for their great teamwork, accurate passing and positive vibes. Thanks to Two Cracks Coffee.
U8 Falcons
Following a bye last weekend it took the Falcons 5 mins to wake up against Vasse Kingsnakes today. But once awake their teamwork was on display for all. Estelle played her last game of the season today, great year Estelle finishing with a player of the day. Marco showed great footwork skill to also be awarded player of the day.
U8 Ninja’s
Ninjas were ready to rumble after figuring out some technical issues whilst setting up the goals. We hosted MUSC Tigers for another exciting match. Ninjas were on fire with their running and passing, sharing the ball magnificently around the pitch. MUSC worked hard in defence and their goalie stopped some great strikes, but the relentless attack of the Ninjas proved too great. The sun was shining at Rapids but it was raining goals for the Ninjas. With Brady in goals during the first half and Vinnie stepping into goals for the second half, MUSC Tigers were unable to score. Player of the day today was Felipe, for his positive attitude and great sportsmanship. Sponsored by Two Cracks Coffee.
U9 Messi Kids
Messi Kids dominated their final away game of the season with a fantastic win over GMAS Vipers. The team put on a clinical performance passing the ball like seasoned pros. Messi Kids took control right from the kickoff. Jack opened the scoring with an excellent goal, and Luke doubled the lead shortly after with a great finish to put the team in control by halftime.
GMAS Vipers pushed hard in the second half, but they simply could not penetrate the defence of Eliana and Malakai who shut down every attack
Player of the Day honours went to Luke for demonstrating excellence throughout the match.
U10 Mavericks
Spring sprung early at Churchill Park on Saturday and the sun was certainly shining on FMR Mavericks. Our players of the day were Ziggy Farina and George Gray. Ziggy starred in defense and also scored a couple of goals. George, all class as always, scored a few himself and some stunning assists.
U11 Dragons
The Dragons were on the road again this sunny Saturday, heading to Busselton to take on the BCFC Possums. We had a last minute change, heading over to a much bigger pitch at Barnard Park. We played 11-a-side instead of the usual 9, with a big thank you to the players who joined us from the FMR Mavericks and from the Possums to make up the numbers, this was a great display of sportsmanship!
It was a tough and physical contest, with the larger pitch really testing the Dragons’ endurance. With the extra ground to cover, the Dragons worked incredibly hard, stayed strong on the ball and did a great job of maintaining possession under pressure. There were some excellent passages of play, with the Dragons making good use of the extra space and continuing to work together across the field.
Defensively, the Dragons were equally strong, working hard as a unit and limiting opportunities for the Possums. It was a challenging game in unfamiliar conditions, but a fantastic effort from the whole team to adapt and keep working right until the final whistle. Well done, Dragons!
Our players of the day today were John, our star keeper in the first half who then switched and had a run in the second half, scoring 4 goals! And also Jayden, who worked really hard on the pitch today, both attacking and defending. Thank you to our sponsors Golf Gardens and Burger Baby!
U11 Serpents
The Serpents faced off against the Vasse Adders for the second time this season with Vasse off on a quick start scoring first. The Serpents held their head high to make a comeback with some precision passing from all players on the pitch to set up Raya for a banger of a goal. POD was awarded to Thiago for his second half of non stop hunger for the ball. Well done Serpents!
U13 Legends
What a game the U13 Legends experienced Saturday! Playing a Cup Semi final which matched the final of last year!
The Legends maintained the front position the entire game against Busselton Blades. All players were respectful and showed great sportsmanship towards each other. Legends never let their guard down and maintain good pitch presence and positioning.
To come out on top was thrilling! Players of the day were Denzel Ganfield and Ashley Faulkner. Looking forward to the Cup final in a couple of weeks. Well done team!!!
U14 Stingrays
The Stingrays shone against Buss Seasiders on a bright and beautiful day in Busselton. Playing probably their strongest game of the year all of team performed extremely well in all areas of the pitch. Louis Bebbington performed some wizardry on the left wing, and both Atkins brothers continued a strong season with a hat-trick each. The Seasiders showed great character by persisting to the final whistle but in the end it was a dominant performance by the Stingrays. Congratulations to players of the day Louis Bebbington, Bobby Atkins and Mahli Lange.
U15 Rockets
The Rockets took to the pitch on Friday night, taking on Vasse in the FIFA Cup Semi Final. Despite playing with heart and gusto through out the match, they were unable to defeat Vasse who took out the win to head into the Finals. Well done Rockets. You didn’t get the win, but you’ve done the Club proud with your efforts and never give up attitude.
