Round 3

Round 3 dawned with some teams chasing the sun, while the teams playing at home met more wintery conditions.

U7 River Dogs

The River Dogs were on the road this weekend, travelling to sunny Dunsborough with a full side to play the DTFC Hawks. The team worked hard, running flat-out from start to finish. The game saw some epic defensive skills and great passing, working together seamlessly resulting in many amazing goals. Player of the day today was awarded to Darcy for his over-all effort with solid defence, accurate passing and a few great goals. Thanks to FMR Canteen for sponsoring this week's player of the day voucher.

U7 Thunder

This weekend, our team travelled to Dunsborough for our first away game.  They played exceptionally well, maintaining a strong defensive line around the goals.  Each player put in a standout effort and Cassian truly shone as our player of the match. His strong and precise kicks were a key factor in earning his Dominos voucher. Well done!

U7 Shadows

The U7 Shadows travelled to Dunsborough for their first away game of the season, against the Dunsborough Brumbies. Once again, the Shadows bought a wonderful team spirit that saw them kick some awesome goals early on in the game. The Brumbies were great challengers, and the Shadows showed wonderful defensive and attacking skills to both save and score some more goals in the second half. Special mention to Harry who was Player of the Match for scoring 2 goals and running really hard throughout the game. Another amazing team effort by the Shadows.

U8 Falcons

Today we were reminded soccer is a winter sport. But the Falcons still took the pitch with smiling faces for another Margs derby. Coach Gordo has been working on positioning with the team and today it was great to see everyone giving it a go. Marshall and Billy seemed to enjoy the wet weather pushing hard towards goals. Estelle claimed to be cold but she was on fire today, being rewarded with player of the day.

U8 Ninja’s

Another glorious morning at the Rapids Landing oval this weekend... clear skies with a few drizzles before it really started raining goals for the Ninjas in the second half! Legendary Leo Fucci stepped up as goalie in the first half - showing courage and confidence for his first time in the square. He only conceded one goal, awesome effort Leo!

The Heroic Henry put the gloves on and stepped into goals for the second half - and managed to keep the opposition at 1 goal. Highlight of the match was the passing, zigzagging the ball around the pitch to get around the defenders and ensure every team member was a part of the game. Players of the day this week were Mack, Eli and Stone, for their incredible efforts with passing, running and great sportsmanship amongst their teammates and the opposition. Thanks to LJ Soccer, Candy Cow and Golf Gardens for sponsoring this week's Player of the day vouchers! Epic effort Ninjas, time to rest up with a bye followed by the long weekend, ready to come back against the Vasse Kingsnakes in Round 5!

U8 The Breakers

The Breakers had a fantastic home game against the Falcons. Great sportsmanship and positive umpiring made it a fun match to watch. Special mention of Lucas's first game post a broken arm, what a superstar! A big thanks to sponsors Golf Garden with Lucas and Finnbar taking home vouchers for Players of the Match.

U9 Messi Kids

Messi Kids faced off the Rattlesnakes in an epic match at Rapids Oval. They took control early and got two quick goals before the Rattlesnakes answered with their first, demonstrating their strong offensive play, challenging Luke and Sonny in defence and Hunter as goalie who made many saves. Jack, Ezra and Max showed great passing skills and made many strikes at goal and the Rattlesnakes goalie was feeling the heat. The play moved around the pitch without score for a long time before the rattlesnakes broke with a goal. There was an excellent corner play by Messi Kids with a narrowly missed goal. Quinn and Ezra pushed the offense and scored another goal before half time. In the second half, Ezra took the gloves and saved many attacking shots. Ellie and Clancy took possession and kept moving the ball forwards and Max lead countless attacks on goal, rewarded with nailing the final goal. Coach Trey praised the efforts of the team to take and maintain possession. Player of the day was Sonny – who was superb in defense.

U9 Raptors

This week's game was a great game for the Raptors, where they showed real improvement in many areas. Players all did really well at holding their positions, and keeping the Dragons on their toes for the whole game.

Defence was a strong point for the game, limiting the opportunities for the Dragons to score, and clearing the ball for the midfield to push forward and capitalise on the forward pressure. This produced a number of great scoring opportunities, and great team efforts from one end of the pitch to the other.

Some great crosses by the forwards really made it tough for the Dragons to keep the ball from their net, and ultimately the Raptors had a great outcome. A great effort in defence by Ruby was recognised with player of the day, and big thanks to Candy Cow for sponsoring and providing the gift certificate.

U10 Mavericks

The first home game for the Margaret River Mavs was hard fought against CSC Colts. The stand outs for Saturdays game were players of the day Angus Collins and Louie Bruggler. They both showed great team spirit and tried their hearts out for the win on the weekend. They are pictured here being photo bombed by one of our fantastic coaches Ryan Collins. The boys said they can't wait to get down to Candy Cow and use their vouchers.

U11 Hornets

The Hornets secured a fantastic win against the possums with strong defense and 6 exciting goals by a number of players including a strong one on the final whistle by Arlo. Dylan was awarded player of the day with a voucher at the FMR canteen.

U11 Dragons

The Dragons took another big step forward this week, facing the GMAS Braves with a confident, composed performance built around strong possession football and smart decision making.

The team used accurate passing to control long periods of the match and create attacking opportunities. Even when possession was lost, the team reacted quickly to win it back and recycled the ball through the centre backs to rebuild play again. This is a great example of their growing game awareness and teamwork.

There were plenty of accurate shots on target and the Dragons stayed organised defensively. Our goalkeepers had an excellent game too, only conceding a single goal.

The Dragons continue to improve every week, it is difficult to single out one player but this week our player of the day was awarded to John - he made sure there was never a player left unmarked, was skilfully passing the ball and had some impressive shots. Thanks to our very own FMR canteen for the prize.

U11 Serpents

The Capel Cubs hosted the Serpents in a sun-soaked, high-scoring thriller that had the sidelines buzzing from start to finish. The Serpents put on a masterclass in teamwork, creating space brilliantly and moving the ball with real purpose throughout. A standout moment came in the second half when defender-turned-striker Finn stepped up to bag two goals — a performance so impressive it earned him a well-deserved Player of the Day - cheers to Dominoes for POD voucher!

Goals, grins, and glorious sunshine - a perfect day of U11 football!

U13 All Stars

Tonight’s game playing against the U/14’s Dev squad was exciting under the lights in Busselton. With Zoe and Olive stepping up a notch playing against their Dev squad team mates. The team worked hard and played well together with Reef saving a peppering of shots in goals during the second half to keep The Dev down to 1 goal while Zoe made the most of enjoying showing her Dev team why she is a star striker kicking 4. The players of the day were Zoe who just stole the show and Samson Kerr for being a total legend always listening to his coach and being able to play in a variety of roles and do it well. Thanks Dominos for sponsoring.

Great work Allstars.

U13 Breakers

FMR Breakers played the GMAS Titans at Barnard Park. The Breakers put three balls into the back of the net to take the upper hand in the first half. Lennox found some form in centre to score several goals and win POD as well as Will who read the play to maximise his defensive position. The Breakers gained momentum in the second half to win the match ten goals to none. Thanks to Candy Cow and Dominoes Pizza for prizes.

U14 Stingrays

Coming off a defeat last week the boys worked hard on their tackling in training and came out this week with more vigour, going up 2 nil in the first half.  Vasse made a valiant effort in the second half putting some pressure on the Stingrays before a few well taken goals  resulted in a 4 nil win.  Congratulations to hard-working man of the match and goal scorer Oscar Atkins, sponsored by Candy Cow, Cowaramup.

U15 Warriors

It was a beautiful morning in Capel on Saturday.  The Warriors took home a compelling win.  The Capel team played mightily especially considering they were 6 men down with the younger divisions stepping up to support. This gave the warriors a chance to work on some more intentional and challenging play.

The player of the match went to Catto.   Had great attitude, work for the team, passing, defending!

U17 Mustangs

It was a beautiful sunny day as the Mustangs made the long trip to Australind to face the Leopards on Saturday.  The team was fired up and ready to take their chances, with the ball in our offensive half a lot.  Alex then broke through to get the first goal on the board.  A second attack by Kelani was saved by the keeper.  Jarrah was also making some excellent saves at the other end of the pitch.

Both teams were giving it their all in the warm conditions, both wanting to take control of the game.  Australind fought back to get the equalizer.

Nice play by Kalani to Richard was on target but was saved by keeper.  A Riley throw in to Sid to Kalani gave us a chance, but again, the shot was saved.  The first half closed with the score 1-1.

The Second half started with Australind catching us off guard and it slipping into the net to give them the lead.  Kai playing up front had an immediate impact passing to Stirling who sunk it in the corner to equalize.  The next goal to us came after some excellent team work passing up to Kai again who got one past the keeper.  2-3 to us.

Digby and William were not backing down and going for the ball at all costs, and Ollie and Sid were everywhere covering the pitch.

Stirling found himself in the open and aim was on point. 2-4

Australind weren’t backing down though with a shot thwarted by the bar.  Not long after, Australind got another with a shot out of nowhere that didn’t look like much, but found its target.  3-4 to us.

Luca and Riley were both working hard on opposite sides to create chances for us.  Ethan had a shot from in front that was saved by the keeper.  Just when we thought we had it in the bag, Australind scored again seconds before the buzzer.  The ball went back to the centre and kicked off as the whistle blew with the score a 4-4 draw.

Some great teamwork today, with Sid, Ollie and Kai standing out for their efforts on the pitch.   Player of the Day though goes to Riley, who defended intelligently, never lost sight of his player, showed great awareness and for always listening to the Coach’s instructions.  You’ve improved a lot in the first few weeks Riley.  Congratulations!
