Round 2
Round 2 - another beautiful day with the sun shining nearly as brightly as the kids faces. So great to see everyone back out there having a good time, even if the score doesn’t always go the FMR way. It won’t be long before the rain and great skies come, but for now, everyone is enjoying these glorious days! Much more pleasant as a spectator!!
U7 Lightning
The sun was shining on this beautiful Autumn morning for the u7 Lightning’s second home game of the season. The first half we had to play a very defensive game, the second half saw a lot more passing between players and attacking the ball. Player of the day thanks to Golf Gardens went to Everly McNie, who despite getting 2 balls to the face at close range, got back on her feet and back on the pitch! Well done Everly.
U7 Shadows
A great game on Saturday against the Mambas. The Shadows had great energy, excellent defence and plenty of goals scored and saved. Good sportsman ship from all the boys. Well done team.
U8 Falcons
With a magnificent blue sky overhead it was time for a local derby. The Falcons knew what to expect from the very polished Ninjas but they gave it 110%. Eleanor played her first game for the Falcons and was straight into the midfield action. Finn and Matt showed some great defensive skills but Ashton took player of the day with some powerful runs through the middle. Every Falcon showed grit and determination to never give up today, well done Falcons.
U8 The Breakers
It was the second match of the season for the FMR Breakers against the Dunsborough Stingrays. The team really came together this week with some great attacking runs, defensive play and saves from the keepers. Well played to Dylan and Daisy for taking home players of the match. Dylan made some great runs up the left hand side and Daisy made some decisive tackles and passes. They will both be celebrating courtesy of Domino’s pizza.
U9 Magic
FMR Magic hit the road for their first away game of the season to take on the GMAS Wolves in Busselton.
With team captain Mason leading the way, Magic showed real class moving the ball up the field and crossing into space on attack, leading to lots of strikes and some ripper goals. The Wolves were fierce in both attack and defence, but the real standout was Magic’s ability to keep their heads high and continue with their smart, clean play.
Defensively, Magic absorbed plenty of pressure but continued to press hard and force turnovers time and time again against a determined Wolves side. Austin had a fantastic first game for Magic - fearless in defence and showed great effort and commitment all game.
All players should be very proud of their performance, showing terrific sportsmanship, courage, and resilience in what was a challenging match.
Player of the Day went to Remi for his bravery and composure in goals, making save after save under constant pressure. He never gave up, with his impressive goalkeeping earning praise from spectators on both sides throughout the match. Thanks to Golf Gardens for proudly sponsoring the POD voucher this week!
U9 Messi Kids
The soccer match between the Messi Kids and the CSC Comets was full of energy, teamwork, and exciting moments. Messi Kids played an outstanding game and earned a well-deserved victory with excellent offence and constant attacking pressure with Quinn, Jack and Luke successfully getting onto the score board. Special mention to Max whose efforts were consistent and strong, helping to create many of the scoring opportunities. Their passing was sharp and accurate, helping the team move the ball quickly and keep the pressure on the opposing defence. The Messi Kids also worked hard defensively, showing solid defence and great teamwork to stop their opponents from finding opportunities. From start to finish, Messi Kids displayed determination, skill, and sportsmanship in a fantastic performance. Well done Quinn scoring multiple goals and being the player of the week! Enjoy your pizza from Dominos!
U10 Mavericks
The Mavs came to Capel with a team of 9, no subs, each player excited to play the whole 50 minutes of the match.
In the first half, George bagged his first goal for the year, and by the 10-minute mark, he’d scored his hat trick.
As the game progressed, the Mavs saw more opportunities to pass the ball, linking the back line with the midfield and onto the forwards. River played a crucial role in this strategy, playing his positions well, finding open space, and resisting the temptation to follow the ball across the field.
The whole team played exceptionally well and left the field exhausted but proud of their win. Well done, Mavericks!
Players of the match were River Yates and George Gray.
U11 Hornets
The second game in was a great one for the newly named ‘Hornets’. Awesome play by the whole team, kept the action down their end for the first half. With some great attack by Dylan, Declan and Chase and some nice passing and footwork by all. The rest of the game was tight but ended with a win for the Hornets. Kai scored a fabulous goal after some great running and passing earning him player of the day. Thanks to our sponsors Margaret River Bookshop.
U11 Dragons
The Dragons were playing on home turf again in perfect sunny conditions this weekend as they took on the Dunsborough Fire. All players showed much better scanning, regularly checking for passing options and not ball watching. This was our focus at training this week, the team put this into play and it helped the Dragons move with more purpose and composure. The Dragons stayed switched on defensively and ready to receive any attacks from the Fire.
Communication and teamwork was key as the game went on, with the Dragons supporting each other well and working hard for the win. It was fantastic to see the confidence building across the team and the players putting last week’s lessons into action effectively.
Our player of the day today was Jedd, he played a fantastic game and even scored a goal - on his birthday no less! Thank you to Candy Cow for the voucher.
U11 Serpents
What an absolute belter of a match! The Serpents brought the energy, the teamwork, and the heart today in a cracking showdown against Dunsborough Lightning.
A massive shoutout to Finn, who was an absolute rock at the back, shutting down attacks with some powerhouse defending and perfectly timed passes.
POD went to the incredible Elsie — and it's easy to see why! This girl was an unstoppable wall in defence, refusing to let a single ball slip past her. And when she stepped up into goals for the second half? Same story — nothing was getting through on her watch!
The whole squad gelled brilliantly, had a blast, and pushed themselves to the absolute limit. Big thanks to Domino's for this week’s POD voucher.
U12 Storm
What a derby! Storm were running hard, making great passes, working at a team and scoring two of the most impressive goals of the season so far in the second half. Our POD went to Billy Bebbington and Alex Griffiths-Varin thanks to Golf Gardens.
U13 Breakers
The Capel Wolves drove the long haul to play the Breakers at Gloucester Park this fine Saturday. The game proved to be a tight competition with the Breakers up one goal to none in the first half. The Wolves fought hard to even the score at one goal apiece in the second half. Cohen was an impenetrable shield, guarding the Breakers 1 goal lead in the first half to win Player of the Day. Zoe stopped attackers in their tracks in defence in the first half and ran the ball toward goal like a stream train in attack in the second half to win POD. Thanks to Dominoes pizza for prizes.
U15 Rockets
Dominated the first half but struggled for clean ball. Tommy scored the first goal after pressuring the keeper into a mistake. Tommy scored his second goal after a strike from Alby was fumbled by the keeper and he pounced.
Alby controlled the mid-field and directed play. Charlie made a couple of saves in quick succession and his fast release opened play up. Darcy on after subs and played some good through balls for the forwards
Capel after limited possession had a shot, Charlie got a deflection but the ball found the back corner of the net.
Capel battled hard, with the Rockets not quite on song. Monty scored our 3rd after some good teamwork opened up play. Score was 3-1 at half time.
Keeper change at half time, Cody takes the gloves. Will scores after the team dominates the opening of the 2nd half. And bang, Will gets a deflection on a Banjo strike for his second. Shots, shots and more shots after our defence puts up an unbreakable wall.
Alby scores with a nice strike from a rebound after a corner. Tommi scores his third on the whistle and picks up player of the match honours. 7 : 1 at full time and a great team effort. Player of the day goes to Tommi
U15 Warriors
What a fantastic game today under the beautiful sunshine it was a strong competition between Dunsborough Mariners and the under 15 Warriors
The Dunsborough defence was strong and the warrior attack was mighty
Nigel got a fantastic goal celebrating with a perfect backflip, Dunsborough met that one with another leaving the game a draw.
It was Fierce competition and I'm sure that they will enjoy their next match together
Today's player of the day was Kalani, nimble with his feet graceful with his action and clever with his tactics
U17 Mustangs
The Mustangs met Hay Park this week, with our first home game of the season. The first half was a nail biter with both teams determined to draw first blood. Nothing was getting past either defence though, so at the end of the first half, it was nil all.
Second half and Hay Park got the first goal 10 mins in. Jarrah was determined not to let them score again, making save after save. Kai in defence had another fantastic game, blocking everything coming his way. An unfortunate handball in the box gave HP the penalty, giving them a 2-0 lead. The momentum continued to go their way, with our forwards making drive after drive, but unable to break through the defence to even the score. At the final whistle, it was 4-0 to HP. Despite the score, our boys should be proud as they played well today and were the better team in the first half, playing with intensity. We had our chances, but the shots couldn’t find the net. When they do, the score will turn around.
