Round 5

Another Round in the glorious sunshine this week. Not many games at home this weekend, with most of our teams heading out of town.

U8 Falcons

First weekend of June and we enjoyed a beautiful sunny day for soccer, with all the players showing great enthusiasm and teamwork.

The team worked hard throughout the game, passing well and supporting each other in both attack and defence. Everyone gave their best effort and had plenty of fun on the field. Player of the day today was well deserved by Billy.

U8 The Breakers

A magic day on the pitch with The Breakers performing well under perfect sunshine against Busselton at Churchill Park. The two players deserving their awards from Two Cracks Coffee were Beau Brooks and Solomon Gould. Congratulations to the rest of the team on another successful game.

U9 Magic

Magic produced a strong team performance in Busselton on Saturday morning, taking on BCFC Gunners in an entertaining match.

The team impressively adapted quickly to a 6v6 match (with a few players away from both teams) using the extra space to their advantage and making good decisions all over the pitch. Magic found the back of the net several times through excellent passing, creating chances and showing the courage to take their shots when opportunities opened up.

One of the standout moments came when Mason surged down the right flank before delivering an inch-perfect cross for Oleg to finish with a brilliant strike. Magic’s teamwork was a highlight throughout the match, with players linking up well and creating opportunities for one another.

Defensively, Magic showed great awareness, quickly identifying BCFC’s main attacking threats and working together to close down space and limit their impact. Across the pitch, every Magic player had one or two moments where they made a difference, whether it was creating a chance, winning a challenge, clearing the ball from danger or supporting a teammate.

Player of the Day went to Zephyr, who bravely stepped into goals in the second half and created the biggest crowd reaction of the day with a brilliant save, reacting quickly to stop a powerful close-range strike that looked destined for the back of the net.  Thanks to Domino’s for sponsoring this week’s Player of the Day voucher.

Well done, Magic, and thanks to BCFC Gunners for hosting a great match!

U9 Raptors

The Raptors delivered an outstanding team performance to secure a convincing victory over Dunsborough, with captain Caolan leading from the front and Eddie earning Player of the Match honours.

From the opening whistle, the Raptors showed excellent composure, teamwork, and field positioning. Lachie set the tone early with the opening goal, helping establish the momentum that the team carried throughout the match. Beau was clinical in front of goal, finishing with a superb hat-trick while consistently finding dangerous positions and keeping the pressure on the Dunsborough defence. Eddie added a goal of his own and was instrumental in the attacking play, displaying exceptional vision and delivering several perfectly weighted passes across goal to create scoring opportunities for his teammates.

Across the field, every player made an important contribution. Aston produced one of his best games, running tirelessly, showing excellent ball control, and working hard in every phase of play. Leo was the team's workhorse, covering the ground tirelessly and always finding himself involved in the action. Ezra was influential through the middle of the field, creating movement and helping link defence to attack, while Issac consistently found strong positions up front and provided an attacking outlet.

Defensively, the Raptors were rock solid. Ollie was dominant at the back, particularly from corners and defensive clearances, using his strength and determination to shut down attacks. In the second half, Aston and Ollie combined effectively in defence to ensure Dunsborough rarely threatened. Will was equally impressive, putting in a strong performance both in goal during the first half and along the back line, preventing any opportunities from getting through.

Lachie took over goalkeeping duties in the second half and, although he wasn't called upon for many saves, his excellent distribution from throws and kicks helped launch several attacking moves. Throughout the game, the Raptors kept the Dunsborough goalkeeper under constant pressure with numerous shots on goal and sustained attacking play.

Captain Caolan led strongly throughout the match, running hard, encouraging his teammates, and setting the standard with his effort and determination.

The standout moments in this game came when the Raptors showcased their growing confidence and teamwork with a series of quick one-two passes that demonstrated just how well the team is developing together.

A fantastic all-round performance.

U10 Raptors

The sun was shining and the grass was glistening for the U`0 Derby, with the Raptors and Rovers thrilling the spectators with the skills and persistence of the players on the field.  Another great effort by the Raptors on Saturday, with some real highlights showing how the team has continued to improve in many areas.

Relentless pressure in the midfield and defensive line kept the Rovers on their toes, although they did manage to sneak few goals in.

Some nice movement of the ball through to the forward line allowed for some scoring opportunities, but it was toward the end of the game where momentum really started to work in our favour, culminating in a couple of great goals - with Arlo assisting in one, and going solo in the other. This earned a well-deserved player of the day for Arlo, for his effort and fine footwork.  Big thanks for Two Cracks Coffee in Cowaramup for providing the voucher this week.

U11 Dragons

The Dragons hit the road this weekend to take on the Dunsborough Storm in what was a fiercely competitive contest. It was an end to end battle throughout, with both teams creating opportunities and Storm held the Dragons to a draw at half time

At the start of the second half, the Storm had the Dragons on the ropes, but we had the resilience to regroup, regain composure and continue fighting. The Dragons showed plenty of determination under sustained pressure, it was a tightly contested match, but the Dragons were able to take back control and net a couple of goals in the second half.

Player of the Day went to Connor, whose relentless running and effort never dropped from the first whistle to the last. Big thanks to our sponsor Domino’s Margaret River for the voucher!

U11 Serpents

Another ripper day in Capel — sun shining and smiles all round between the Margaret River Serpents and the Capel Pups!

The Serpents played with great energy and team spirit throughout. Louis took out Player of the Day for his brilliant plays, slick footwork, teamwork, and pace — well deserved! Hope you enjoy that hot chocolate and brownie courtesy of Two Cracks Coffee.

Thanks to Coach Monty and Jason for a great day!

U12 Roos

Sun was shining for the 9am kick off. The Roos travelled north to Busselton. Strong defense from the Roos but sometimes GMAS found the right opportunity. Player of the match thanks to Golf Gardens, went to Didi, who did well in goals, kept focused on coming forward to reduce chances for the strikers.

U12 Storm

Well done Storm you kept going the whole game, keeping the pressure on with attacking the ball, showing some impressive triangular work and communicating across the pitch to each other.

Recognition for our PODs:

- Sunny had his best game this season

- Billy the whizz was owning the wings

- Elki showing her unstoppable style

Great effort this week from the whole team 🥳

U13 Breakers

The weather turned it on for the Breakers V Roar match in Dunsborough today. With a man down the Breakers fought valiantly to find themselves down three goals at half time. The Roar added to their score in the second half to take out the match. Kai played a fantastic game in mid field to win POD along with Marshall who consistently ran up and down the field contributing to the play. Special mention to Mireya who displayed lightning speed running along with Ronan who is improving in leaps and bounds. Thanks to Golf Gardens and Burger Baby for prizes.

U17 Mustangs

Another tough contest for the Mustangs this week, taking on the top of the ladder Australind Tigers at home in the glorious sunshine.

We had a chance to get on the scoreboard a min in with the keeper out of position, but the shot went across the front.

There were no shortage of chances with a Kai and Kelani combo giving us another, but ball went over.   Ethan gave Kelani a great pass down the line who passed to Poom, but again shot was saved.

Australind scored first off the corner.  A great ball by Sid to Alex gave us a chance, but was saved. Kai sliding to win 2 back to back challengers passed to Alex, but again shot was saved.

Reef was back from injury playing his first game and making his presence on the pitch known playing some strong football as CB.

Sid was chasing, challenging and making chances.  Bobbie and Ollie solid as rocks playing with skill and keeping the ball forward.

The second half was much the same with both teams hungry for the ball, running everything down and not giving an inch.  It felt like it was just a matter of time before we got the equaliser, but unfortunately there were a lot of chances that we weren’t able to convert.  Then an unfortunate error in the box gave one of the team a red card and a penalty to the Tigers that found the back of the net.  Playing with 10 on the pitch proved a challenge for the majority of the second half.  Even a man down we fought to the end, but Australind scored a banger of a goal to take the game out 0-3.

This is their lowest winning score, so we can take some pride in taking it to the top of the ladder team and keeping the score card down.  There was some excellent work on the pitch by everyone.  We just need to work on finding the back of that net.
